Stone Raps Burlington High School for 5 Hits Tuesday, March 29th , 1955 Atlanta High School Parrots first baseman Eric Stone had a day to remember at Parrots Grounds, ripping apart the Burlington High School Maples and sparking the 10-9 Parrots win. Stone wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-7. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Stone told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Eric Stone hit a solo-shot off Mat Zitko in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th, doubled in the 9th, walked in the 11th, flied out in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 14th. This season, Stone is batting .375 with 36 hits, 3 home runs, 15 RBIs, 18 walks, .474 OBP and has scored 19 runs. He has played in 23 games. |
