Peters Rocks Dingos for 3 HRs
Monday, March 30th , 1953
Kristoph Martins Trade School Sabercats left fielder Reinhold Peters put on a dazzling display of power at Dingos Park against the High School of the Caribbean Dingos. In the 15-2 Sabercats victory, Peters penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," High School of the Caribbean manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 15-year-old had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Peters said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Reinhold Peters hit a three-run home run off Eddie Garcia in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Eddie Garcia in the 4th and hit a solo-shot off Jean-Paul Guillaume in the 6th.
In 25 games this season, Peters has compiled a .391 batting average with 36 hits and 8 home runs. He has also scored 34 times and knocked in 27 runs.
