The St. Peter's Prep Flyers fell to the Chicago High School Waves in Team 18 Grounds, even as 17-year-old shortstop Jose Hernandez upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 40 games. Hernandez finished with 1 hit in 5 at-bats, but could not stop the Flyers from dropping the 8-3 decision.
"Yeah, I kept my streak going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Hernandez. Jose Hernandez singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
Looking at his stats this year, Hernandez has compiled a .343 batting average, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 4 runs. He has played in 25 games and scored 26 runs.
