Hammerheads Pitching Ravaged by Bordon Monday, April 13th , 1959 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Fernando Bordon of the Rome High School Swamp Dogs had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate in his team's 8-4 win over the Seoul High School Hammerheads at Swamp Dogs Ballpark. "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 17-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Fernando Bordon singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 7th. This year, Bordon has hit at a .308 pace and produced 17 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 25 runs. |
