Ocampo Named Top Reliever for IHS Tuesday, April 28th , 1959 Edgar Ocampo said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 17 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the St. Dominic's High School Mountain Cats rising star has won the International High Schools Reliever of the Year Award for 1959. He captured the award on the strength of his 2.48 ERA over 29 innings. He also had 7 saves in 19 relief appearances, 24 strikeouts and only 10 walks. He received 53 first place votes out of a possible 60. Fokke Visser of the Dutch International School Aqua Sox finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Napoleon Varvitsiotes of the Athens High School Angels finished third.
