IHS Gives Outstanding Pitcher Award Saturday, April 30th , 1955 Aldred Maas is the latest International High Schools Pitcher of the Year Award winner. The Amsterdam Secondary starter really shone on the hill time and again and finished 1955 with a sparkling 5-1 record. In 8 starts, he fanned 38, walked 22 in 55.2 innings and posted a 2.10 ERA. Maas held opposing hitters to a .255 batting average. He received 32 first place votes out of a possible 60. Felix Spits of the Amsterdam Secondary Bluebirds finished second in voting with 22 first place votes, while Eddy Lamberts of the Bayside High School Sand Gnats finished third with 3 first place votes.
