Klaras Grabs IHS Reliever of the Year Award Tuesday, April 28th , 1953 At the young age of only 16, Demetrius Klaras has been named the International High Schools Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1953. The future appears bright for the Athens High School Angels relief ace, who captured the award with 3 saves in 18 relief appearances, 24 strikeouts in 24.2 innings and a record of 0-1 to go with his 1.82 ERA. He received 39 first place votes out of a possible 60. Frank Cerritos of the Tokyo Central High School Sky Chiefs finished second in voting with 21 first place votes, while Nick Ghee of the St. Pierre Prep Golden Gophers finished third.
