Driscoll Selected NAHS's Best Player Friday, May 1st , 1959 He may have less experience than most of his TOBA High School peers, but that didn't slow Greg Driscoll down at all in 1959. At the age of 16, the Adams Academy right fielder has been named the winner of the North American High Schools Most Valuable Player Award. He had a .447 batting average and a .571 on-base percentage this year. In 41 games he piled up 68 hits, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 12 home runs, 46 RBIs and 51 runs scored. "I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year." He received 60 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Rich Cook of the Adams Academy Copperheads finished second in voting, while Norihito Yamada of the Johnston Institute Battle Kings finished third.
