Quero Heads NAHS Best Player List
Friday, May 1st , 1953
He may have less experience than most of his TOBA High School peers, but that didn't slow Randall Quero down at all in 1953.
At the age of 18, the Providence High School center fielder has been named the winner of the North American High Schools Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .423 batting average and a .527 on-base percentage this year. In 40 games he piled up 63 hits, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 16 home runs, 43 RBIs and 44 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 60 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Phil Fowler of the Houston Trade School Rapids finished second in voting, while Damien Leach of the Alaska Military School Bayhawks finished third.
