Gilgore Rips Tokyo Central High School for 5 Hits Monday, March 29th , 1954 It seemed Berlin Military School Hillcats shortstop Nick Gilgore could do no wrong, but it still didn't come out right. The Hillcats fell against the Tokyo Central High School Sky Chiefs by the score of 9-6. Gilgore did all he could, rapping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but in the end, Tokyo Central High School prevailed at Team 40 Stadium. "I felt real good, but my best just wasn't enough," Gilgore said in the postgame interview. "We didn't play well enough to win. I saw the ball well and put the ball in play well, and they fell in for base hits. Some days they do that." Nick Gilgore hit a solo-shot off Bobby Artim in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Bobby Artim in the 7th, flied out in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
