Voyagers Advance to Round 2 Sunday, April 27th , 1952 In an exciting Round 1 that had its fair share of drama and intrigue, perhaps it is TOBA High School fans who have come out the winner. But on the field, the winners were the Long Beach High School Voyagers, who edged the Sleepy Hollow High School Horsemen 4-3 to advance to the Round 2. Long Beach High School won the final game by a 9-8 count to wrap up the series. Caseareo Mezzatesta earned series MVP honors, by hitting .750 with a .800 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 0 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Long Beach High School Voyagers will play against the St. Peter's Prep Flyers in the next round. St. Peter's Prep won their series against the Washington DC High School Robins 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
