Burlington High School Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Sunday, April 27th , 1952 After their 2-1 win today at Maples Field over the Providence High School Loggers, the Burlington High School Maples will advance to the Round 2. Burlington High School won the series by a 4-3 margin. Leading the way for the Maples was starting pitcher Wietze Broerse, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The Burlington High School Maples will play against the Alaska Military School Bayhawks in the next round. Alaska Military School won their series against the Chicago High School Waves 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
