Golden Gophers Move on to Round 2 Monday, April 28th , 1952 Golden Gophers Fields was the buzzing center of the baseball universe tonight, hosting the deciding game of the Round 1. The St. Pierre Prep Golden Gophers and Damien's Institute Sparks had battled tooth and nail to arrive at the final game and in the end it was the Golden Gophers prevailing 1-0 to move on to the Round 2. "There's no feeling quite like winning a series in the final game," said an excited Bobby Komarek, who was named series MVP. "This was two great teams and it turned out to be a great series. It's good for the fans." For the series, Komarek had a 0.00 ERA over 9 innings pitched, with a 1-0 record. The St. Pierre Prep Golden Gophers will play against the Taipei High School Wingnuts in the next round. Taipei High School won their series against the Berlin Military School Hillcats 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
