1954 Best Player Picked By NAHS Saturday, May 1st , 1954 He may have less experience than most of his TOBA High School peers, but that didn't slow Randall Quero down at all in 1954. At the age of 19, the Providence High School center fielder has been named the winner of the North American High Schools Most Valuable Player Award. He had a .440 batting average and a .541 on-base percentage this year. In 41 games he piled up 73 hits, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs, 45 RBIs and 52 runs scored. "I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year." He received 55 first place votes out of a possible 60. Tomas Lopez of the San Juan High School Surf finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Mike Weems of the Providence High School Loggers finished third.
