John Cunha Gets MVP Trophy
Wednesday, April 30th , 1958
The manager of the Gary Abrams High School Galaxy said he thinks John Cunha is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 15, but it will be hard to top the first baseman's 1958 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the North American High Schools Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .424 batting average and a .513 on-base percentage this year. In 40 games he piled up 67 hits, 14 doubles, 3 triples, 16 home runs, 45 RBIs and 44 runs scored.

He received 54 first place votes out of a possible 60. Norihito Yamada of the Johnston Institute Battle Kings finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Kyle Holman of the San Jose Secondary Thrashers finished third.
