Leclercq 5-for-5 Against Lancers Sunday, March 29th , 1953 The Prairie University Golden Gophers stopped the Northern Military College Lancers by a score of 8-7 at Raccoons Grounds, with the lion's share of the credit going to right fielder Pierre Leclercq. The 21-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Leclercq said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Leclercq did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Lancers. "Not much that I can say," offered Northern Military College manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us." Pierre Leclercq doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Pavla Mamsurov in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season, Leclercq is batting .410 with 5 home runs. His totals include 21 RBIs and 22 runs scored. |
