5-Hit Blitz by Cumana University's Flores Tuesday, March 29th , 1955 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Ignado Flores -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Team 28 Grounds and paced the 9-5 Fighting Lions win over the Orange Prince A&M Velocity. After his dynamite batting performance, the Cumana University first baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Ignado Flores singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and hit a three-run home run off Augustin Hansen in the 11th. So far this year, Flores has hit .309 with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored. |
