Triplets Win Wildcard Series Friday, April 29th , 1955 The Punta Cana University Triplets celebrated wildly after a 3-2 win over the Monteserico University Majestics in the Wildcard Series. At the center of the celebration was Alberto Ayala, who was instrumental in getting his team to the Division Series. "I may get a lot of the credit, but it's a team sport," said the Punta Cana University pitcher. "Getting named MVP is nice, but even if I sucked and we made it to the next round, I would have been happy. That's all that matters at this time of year." Ayala threw 6 innings, with 5 strikeouts, while allowing 4 hits, 1 walk and 2 runs. Monteserico University manager said it was a "tough blow" for his team, which had aspirations of winning the Championship Series this year. The Punta Cana University Triplets will play against the Dortmund University Scarecrows in the next round. Dortmund University won their series against the Cumana University Fighting Lions. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
