Thrilling Win Sends Rome Institute to Next Round Wednesday, April 29th , 1959 The Rome Institute Shockers received a strong pitching performance and have advanced to the Division Series, with a 4-3 win over the Colón University Nuggets in the Wildcard Series. Rome Institute pitcher Adriano Paladino was strong on the mound, leading his team to victory with 7 innings of work. He added 3 strikeouts, while allowing 6 hits, 2 walks and 3 runs. Several Nuggets players sat in stunned silence on their bench as they watched Rome Institute players celebrate the win in the middle of the field at Team 27 Grounds. "We're admittedly excited right now," Paladino said as he took a break from celebrating with his teammates. "To win a one-game playoff, it's thrilling." The Rome Institute Shockers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Brest University Rocketmen - Stuttgart Military College Chameleons series. That series has not started yet. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
