Triplets Move on to League Championship Series Sunday, May 1st , 1955 The Punta Cana University Triplets received a strong pitching performance and have advanced to the League Championship Series, with a 5-2 win over the Dortmund University Scarecrows in the Division Series. Punta Cana University pitcher Juan Gallego was strong on the mound, leading his team to victory with 9 innings of work. He added 4 strikeouts, while allowing 7 hits, 3 walks and 2 runs. Several Scarecrows players sat in stunned silence on their bench as they watched Punta Cana University players celebrate the win in the middle of the field at Scarecrows Ballpark. "We're admittedly excited right now," Gallego said as he took a break from celebrating with his teammates. "To win a one-game playoff, it's thrilling." The Punta Cana University Triplets will play against the Brest University Rocketmen in the next round. Brest University won their series against the Colón University Nuggets. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. |
