Thrilling Win Pushes Eastern New York University to Next Round Thursday, April 30th , 1953 The Eastern New York University Steelers are on to the Division Series. And the club has a strong performance from Livio Romanelli to thank for the Wildcard Series victory. The pitcher was instrumental in the 6-3 win over the Bakersfield Institute of Technology Golden Bears at Team 3 Stadium, as he was named series MVP for his efforts. Romanelli threw 8 innings, with 3 strikeouts, while allowing 6 hits, 4 walks and 3 runs. "I just trusted my catcher and was able to execute pitches, thankfully," he said. "That's a talented team they have over there, so I wasn't taking anything for granted." The Eastern New York University Steelers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Cancun A&M Pumas - Arecibo University Tarzans series. That series has not started yet. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
