Arecibo University Wins Wildcard Series Thursday, April 30th , 1953 Only one team can eventually be crowned Championship Series champions and the list of candidates just shrunk by one. With a 14-1 win, the Arecibo University Tarzans eliminated the Cancun A&M Pumas in the Wildcard Series at Team 15 Fields today. "The idea of our season being over if we lost was motivating," said third baseman Layton Pedlar, who had 4 hits in 6 at bats to lead his team to victory. "It wasn't hard to get pumped up for this one." In a brief interview after the loss, Cancun A&M manager congratulated Arecibo University on the win and wished the club luck in the rest of the playoffs. The Arecibo University Tarzans will play against the Eastern New York University Steelers in the next round. Eastern New York University won their series against the Bakersfield Institute of Technology Golden Bears. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
