Prairie University Defeats Punta Cana University Friday, May 8th , 1953 This is the time of the baseball season when grown men are reduced to tears. This year, the Prairie University Golden Gophers were shedding tears of joy and the Punta Cana University Triplets those of sorrow. The Golden Gophers topped the Triplets today 12-5 at Raccoons Grounds and locked up their 1st TOBA College Championship Series championship, winning the series 2-1. "To come this far and leave empty-handed is not easy," said Punta Cana University manager . The Golden Gophers finished the regular season in the North American Conference North with a 33-17 record, ending up in first place in the division standings. |
