NAC Awards Most Valuable Player Award, Pedlar Gets Prize Sunday, May 22nd , 1955 Layton Pedlar, the talented Arecibo University third baseman, certainly made his name known among North American Conference hurlers this season. He hammered them for 61 hits, 7 doubles, 4 triples, 20 home runs, 41 RBIs and scored 45 times. That kind of output made him the choice for North American Conference Most Valuable Player Award for 1955. He received 28 first place votes out of a possible 32. Ben Apperson of the Prairie University Golden Gophers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Fernando Fonseca of the Arecibo University Tarzans finished third with 2 first place votes.
