Tuesday, May 19th , 1953
At the age of 20, Ed Rinehart says he still has a lot to learn about life in TOBA College.

But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Eastern New York University Steelers reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 1953 North American Conference Reliever of the Year Award.

"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the
Kapolei, Hawaii native said.

For the season, Rinehart had 7 saves in 23 relief appearances, which totaled 31. He fanned 25 betters, while walking 18 and put up a record of 3-0 to go with his 1.16 ERA.

He received 32 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Alex Soto of the Bakersfield Institute of Technology Golden Bears finished second in voting, while Graeme Williams of the Bismarck State University Bears finished third.
