Eastern New York University Steelers Clinch First in North American Conference East Tuesday, April 27th , 1954 Jack Jacobs called it "one of the best parts of being a pro ballplayer." The Eastern New York University Steelers third baseman was referring to winning a division title, as his club has just captured the North American Conference East crown. "There's not many better feelings than winning a tight pennant race," he said. "We worked hard for it all year, have our record at 28-22 right now and feel we're in good shape for the postseason." It was the 3rd time the Steelers have won the division. It may be a high for Jacobs and his teammates, but there is certainly one better feeling he's now hoping for. "Winning the Championship Series," he said. "Nothing would top that." |
