Pond Socks It to Bakersfield Institute of Technology 3 Times
Wednesday, April 30th , 1952
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Tim Pond did at Team 13 Stadium, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 22-10.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Pond said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The North West Florida University Aligators second baseman blistered the Bakersfield Institute of Technology Golden Bears for 3 hits, batted in 7 runs and scored 4 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," Bakersfield Institute of Technology manager said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
Tim Pond hit a GRAND SLAM off Phil Gross in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Phil Gross in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Adam Corrigan in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
During the current season Pond is batting at a .264 clip with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 49 games and scored 43 times.
