Wolverines Move on to Division Series Wednesday, April 28th , 1954 The The Janison Institute Wolverines celebrated wildly after a 4-1 win over the Cancun A&M Pumas in the Wildcard Series. At the center of the celebration was Brian Barnett, who was instrumental in getting his team to the Division Series. "I may get a lot of the credit, but it's a team sport," said the The Janison Institute pitcher. "Getting named MVP is nice, but even if I sucked and we made it to the next round, I would have been happy. That's all that matters at this time of year." Barnett threw 9 innings, with 6 strikeouts, while allowing 5 hits, no walks and 1 run. Cancun A&M manager said it was a "tough blow" for his team, which had aspirations of winning the Championship Series this year. The The Janison Institute Wolverines will play against the Ocean County Institute of Technology Demons in the next round. Ocean County Institute of Technology won their series against the Eastern New York University Steelers. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
