Tarzans Advance to League Championship Series Wednesday, May 14th , 1952 The Arecibo University Tarzans players streamed onto the field at Marshals Grounds in jubilation, while heads were hung and few words were spoken in the The Janison Institute Wolverines clubhouse at the conclusion of the Division Series. In a series that had a bit of everything and went the distance, Arecibo University won the final game 8-0 and the series 4-3. "It's hard to describe what we're feeling right now," said Arecibo University left-hander Josh Swift, whose strong pitching performance in the series garnered him MVP honors. "You square off against a good team like The Janison Institute and anything can happen. Both teams deserved to go on, but thankfully it's us." For the series, Swift had a 0.00 ERA over 9 innings pitched. He added 7 strikeouts with a 1-0 record. The Arecibo University Tarzans don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the University of the Desert Cowboys - North West Florida University Aligators series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. |
