Thrilling Win Sends Ocean County Institute of Technology to Next Round Tuesday, April 29th , 1958 Bruce Garcia said he couldn't let his team's season come to an end while he was standing on the mound. The starting pitcher propelled his Ocean County Institute of Technology Demons to a 4-3 win over the Bakersfield Institute of Technology Golden Bears in the Wildcard Series at Gems Park and they are now off to the Division Series. "I told myself I needed to step up and that my team was counting on me," Garcia said. "When you've got all your teammates relying on you, you've got to come through in a big way." The starting pitcher certainly did come through, as he led the team to victory with 7.1 innings pitched, with 9 strikeouts, while allowing 7 hits, 7 walks and 3 runs. The Ocean County Institute of Technology Demons don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Eastern New York University Steelers - The Janison Institute Wolverines series. That series has not started yet. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
