It's Over! Venezuela Defeats Japan
Saturday, March 21st , 1953
"You didn't think we would pull it off, did you?" said Venezuela manager in the clubhouse after his team earned a 5-4 win over Japan in the finals of the 1953 World Junior Championship tournament.
"Look," he said, "it doesn't matter what the outsiders thought. This club believed in themselves. They proved it all year long heading into this tournament. I can't imagine a better group to celebrate with."
