Gouin Strokes 5 Hits Sunday, April 12th , 1959 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Bernard Gouin -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Knighthawks Field and paced the 8-7 Knighthawks win over the Greater Capital Secondary Bats. After his dynamite batting performance, the Montpellier Central High School catcher told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Bernard Gouin singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and flied out in the 10th. Currently Gouin has 8 home runs and a .348 batting average. |
