Friday, May 1st , 1953
The future looks extremely bright for Shoshi Morishita. At the age of 16, many players are still trying to find their way in TOBA High School.
Morishita has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the International High Schools Most Valuable Player Award.
"I didn't expect to hit .448 this year, that's for sure," the first baseman said.
The Tokyo Central High School Sky Chiefs star also put up a .541 on-base percentage this year, with 65 hits, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 23 home runs, 65 RBIs and 51 runs scored.
He received 60 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Xavier Simon of the Sakura Prep Swordsmen finished second in voting, while Jean-Loup Pasquet of the Montpellier Central High School Knighthawks finished third.
