Fighting Lions Win Wildcard Series Wednesday, April 29th , 1953 After their 11-4 win today at Team 24 Stadium over the Hoorn University Watermen, the Cumana University Fighting Lions will advance to the Division Series. Cumana University won the series by a 1-0 margin. Leading the way for the Fighting Lions was catcher Warren Flemming, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The Cumana University Fighting Lions will play against the Dortmund University Scarecrows in the next round. Dortmund University won their series against the Monteserico University Majestics. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
