Win Sends Kaohsiung University to Next Round Friday, May 1st , 1959 The stakes were high and the Kaohsiung University Golden Panthers were up to the task. Kaohsiung University advanced to the League Championship Series with a 7-5 win over the Punta Cana University Triplets at Golden Panthers Stadium. "Our fans are no doubt excited about this one," said Hai-feng Shu, who went 4-for-7 and won game MVP honors. "We weren't ready to call it a season and losing in a one-game playoff would have been tough." Tough may be an understatement, as the Punta Cana University locker room was not open to media immediately following the game, with the manager saying his club needed some time to reflect on the season and the loss. The Kaohsiung University Golden Panthers will play against the Rome Institute Shockers in the next round. Rome Institute won their series against the Stuttgart Military College Chameleons. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. |
