Cumana University Takes Division Series Saturday, May 1st , 1954 Sergio Huerta said he knew he would have to be a difference-maker in the Division Series. He was exactly that, as the Cumana University Fighting Lions right-hander was instrumental to his club's 4-3 win over the Kaohsiung University Golden Panthers to advance to the League Championship Series. "You want the ball in that type of game, definitely," he said. "One game, with everything on the line? That's what you dream about as a kid." Huerta threw 8 innings, collecting 3 strikeouts while allowing 6 hits, 1 walk and 2 runs. "He was good, we've got to give him credit," said Kaohsiung University manager . The Cumana University Fighting Lions will play against the Rome Institute Shockers in the next round. Rome Institute won their series against the Orange Prince A&M Velocity. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. |
