IC Hands Out Reliever of the Year Award Tuesday, May 19th , 1953 At the young age of only 20, Austin Putnam has been named the International Conference Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1953. The future appears bright for the Colón University Nuggets relief ace, who captured the award with 5 saves in 17 relief appearances, 17 strikeouts in 21.1 innings and a record of 3-0 to go with his 0.84 ERA. He received 22 first place votes out of a possible 32.
